Java Software Engineer

Job Title: Java Engineer – Camunda 8 – Banking

Location: Zurich, Switzerland (Hybrid role)

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer with strong Camunda 8 expertise to join an exciting digital banking transformation initiative in Zurich.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, enhancement and operation of services for a new digital client onboarding and product opening platform. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Angular and Camunda 8, along with experience in digital client onboarding, digital product/account opening or Client Lifecycle Management (CLM).

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance and operate services for a new digital client onboarding and product opening platform within the banking sector.
• Support the introduction, implementation and establishment of Camunda 8 across the development environment.
• Contribute to the upskilling and knowledge transfer of existing development teams around Camunda 8.
• Design and develop scalable applications and services using Java, Spring and Angular.
• Develop and manage workflow and process automation solutions using Camunda 8.
• Participate actively in the conceptual design of services, technical solutions and architecture.
• Verify technical solutions according to relevant internal and external security standards.
• Continuously improve and further develop technical and operational processes.
• Advise business stakeholders regarding technical feasibility, solution options and potential impacts.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Engineers, Architects and development teams to design optimal solutions.
• Support the development and integration of database-driven applications using SQL/PostgreSQL and JPA/Hibernate.
• Contribute to high-quality software delivery using modern development and CI/CD practices.

Key Requirements:

• Several years of professional experience as a Software Engineer / Java Developer.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Java and Spring / Spring Boot.
• Strong practical experience with Camunda 8, ideally including implementation, integration and workflow/process automation.
• Experience with Angular and modern frontend development.
• Good knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Practical experience in digital client onboarding, digital product/account opening or Client Lifecycle Management (CLM).
• Experience with JPA / Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience with development and CI/CD tools such as Git, IntelliJ, Jenkins and Sonar.
• Experience contributing to technical concepts, service design and application architecture.
• Understanding of application and security standards within enterprise environments.
• Fluent German and good English communication skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Business Engineers and Architects.
• Structured, analytical and solution-oriented working style with a strong team-player mindset.

Advantageous Skills:

• Previous professional experience within banking or financial services.
• Good development experience with Kotlin.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with BPMN, workflow orchestration and business process automation.
• Previous experience working on banking onboarding, KYC/AML, account opening, product opening or customer lifecycle platforms.
