Senior Java Software Engineer – Spring Boot / Kafka

About the Role

ITech Consult is recruiting on behalf of its client for a highly experienced Backend Java Developer to support the development of real-time data transmission systems. This temporary role focuses on designing and building high-performance, scalable, and maintainable distributed applications.

You will work with key stakeholders to shape technical design and architecture, deliver solutions independently, and contribute your experience to an agile Scrum team. This role is well suited to a senior Java engineer with strong experience in Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL, REST APIs, and the FinTech or financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape application design, architecture, and technical solutions together with key stakeholders.
• Develop high-performance backend applications for real-time data transmission systems.
• Implement solutions independently and represent technical decisions with confidence.
• Identify optimization opportunities and proactively drive improvements.
• Incorporate code and application performance considerations throughout software development.
• Develop and maintain applications within a Scrum environment.
• Contribute to code quality, maintainability, architecture, and automated quality assurance.
• Share knowledge with the team and support junior developers.

Required Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science from a university or university of applied sciences, or a comparable qualification.
• At least 10 years of software development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• At least 3 years of experience with Kafka, SQL, and REST.
• Strong knowledge of designing and developing distributed applications.
• Experience with unit testing and integration testing.
• Experience with GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, and Citrus.
• Broad experience in the FinTech and financial services industry.
• Very good German language skills and good English language skills.

Work Arrangement & Schedule

• Location: 3004 Bern, Switzerland, and the surrounding region.
• Hybrid arrangement: two days onsite; remote work is permitted only from within Switzerland.
• Temporary employment.
• Employment start: By agreement.
