Build the Foundation for Critical Technology
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Solution Engineer / Linux Platform Expert to join a highly specialized engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining a custom Linux platform used in a demanding, technology-driven environment. The role combines deep Linux expertise with platform engineering, automation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain a custom Debian-based Linux platform
- Customize kernels, integrate drivers, and manage Debian packages
- Improve build, test, and release processes to ensure reliability and reproducibility
- Act as the technical expert for complex system-level issues and root cause analysis
- Support development teams in leveraging the platform effectively
- Drive automation, security, performance, and operational improvements
- Contribute to platform architecture and long-term engineering strategy
Must-Have Skills
- 10+ years of hands-on Linux engineering experience
- Extensive experience with customized Linux distributions, ideally Debian
- Strong expertise in Debian package management and package creation
- Experience with tools such as debootstrap, aptly, molior, or similar
- Strong Python and Shell scripting skills
- Solid understanding of operating system internals, build systems, testing, and software packaging
- Excellent English communication skills
Nice to Have
- C or C++ development experience
- Embedded Linux and ARM platform knowledge
- Hardware/software integration experience
- Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, CI/CD, Terraform
- Cloud platform experience (AWS or similar)
- German language skills
