How Contact Permissions Work
BeBee uses a layered permission system to balance open communication with user privacy. Everyone can send messages through the platform, but direct contact information -- phone numbers, WhatsApp, and email addresses -- is only revealed after specific conditions are met.
The Two Requirements
To see another user's direct contact details, both of the following must be true:
- A connection exists between you. This happens when:
- You have a premium subscription. Premium or Premium Plus members can view contact details once a connection is established.
What Each Tier Can See
| Action | Free | Premium | Premium Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Send BeBee messages | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| View profile information | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| See phone/WhatsApp (after connection) | No | Yes | Yes |
| See email (after connection) | No | Yes | Yes |
Why This System Exists
- Privacy first. Users control when their personal contact details are shared. No one's phone number is visible to strangers.
- Spam prevention. By requiring a genuine connection (application or proposal), BeBee ensures that only relevant parties gain access to direct contact methods.
- Safe first contact. The "Send Message" button always goes through BeBee messaging, giving both parties a record of the conversation and the ability to respond on their own terms.
Tips
- Complete your profile. Add your phone number, WhatsApp, and email in your account settings so connected users with premium can reach you through their preferred channel.
- Start with messaging. Even if you have premium, sending a BeBee message first is good etiquette before calling or texting.
- Upgrade when you need it. If you are actively hiring or seeking services and need to contact candidates directly, a premium subscription unlocks those details instantly for all your existing connections.
