Scope of Responsibility Achieve Xiamen International School (AXIS) is seeking an experienced and globally minded AP Mathematics Teacher to teach high school mathematics courses, with a particular focus on Advanced Placement (AP) Mathematics. The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge and demonstrated experience teaching advanced high school mathematics. Depending on student needs and the school’s academic program, courses may include AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Precalculus, AP Statistics, and other high school mathematics courses as assigned.

Under the direction of the Secondary Principal, the AP Mathematics Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality mathematics instruction and creating a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment. The teacher will support students in developing strong mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills while preparing them for success in AP examinations, university study, and future academic pursuits. Teachers are expected to work a total of 190 contract days (195 days for new teachers), with a minimum of 180 student-contact teaching days.

Responsibilities include attendance at school during established working hours to teach, supervise, collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families, and support students, as well as participation in curriculum workdays, parent meetings, professional learning, conferences, and other school-related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities 1.Teach AP Mathematics and other high school mathematics courses as assigned, which may include AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Precalculus, AP Statistics, and other advanced mathematics courses based on student needs and the school’s academic program. 2.Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging, and differentiated mathematics instruction aligned with the College Board AP course frameworks, school curriculum expectations, and relevant academic standards. 3.Prepare students effectively for AP examinations through strong content instruction, problem-solving practice, assessment, feedback, and appropriate AP exam preparation strategies. 4.Develop lesson plans and adapt instruction to meet students’ individual learning needs, abilities, and academic goals. 5.Use a variety of effective instructional strategies to develop students’ mathematical reasoning, conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 6.Design and implement appropriate formative and summative assessments to accurately measure student learning and progress, and use assessment data to inform instruction. 7.Maintain accurate and timely student records and regularly update the school’s learning management and grading systems. 8.Maintain a well-organized, respectful, safe, and academically challenging classroom environment that supports student learning and personal growth. 9.Communicate regularly and professionally with students, parents, counselors, colleagues, and school leadership regarding student academic progress, performance, and areas requiring additional support. 10.Collaborate with other mathematics teachers and professional staff on curriculum development, vertical alignment, assessment practices, and student support. 11.Stay current with College Board AP curriculum requirements, course updates, assessment practices, and AP examination expectations. 12.Demonstrate professional ethics and actively support the AXIS mission, core values, and school community. 13.Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, safeguarding, professional conduct, assessment, and performance evaluation. 14.Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, divisional meetings, parent conferences, professional learning, and other required school activities. 15.Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, colleagues, families, and the wider school community.

Required

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Attributes 1.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. 2.A valid teaching license/certification appropriate to the position. 3.Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant high school mathematics teaching experience, preferably in an international school or college-preparatory environment. 4.Demonstrated experience teaching advanced high school mathematics, with experience teaching one or more AP Mathematics courses strongly preferred. 5.Strong knowledge of AP Mathematics curriculum and College Board course and examination requirements. 6.Ability to teach courses such as AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Precalculus, and/or AP Statistics, depending on the school’s annual course offerings and student needs. 7.Strong mathematics content knowledge and the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and effectively. 8.Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying levels of mathematical readiness while maintaining high academic expectations. 9.Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. 10.Ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate academically ambitious students to achieve their full potential. 11.Commitment to student-centered learning, continuous professional growth, and collaboration within an international school community.
