Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve product related technical issues arising from customer sites and internal situations, escalating complex problems to more experienced staff when necessary and coordinating communication with relevant stakeholders outside the team.
- Provide support to Customers, Product Companies, Customer Centers, suppliers and Business Units to improve performance or resolve technical, quality or safety issues. Identify and escalate issues discovered on products which may require adjusting and/or modifying existing designs to the relevant departments.
- Plan and manage personal workload effectively to ensure technical issues are resolved within agreed timeframes and budgets and support the detailed planning of activities as required to achieve the required results.
- Document all work to standards, producing documentation on novel systems and test reports as necessary and publishing them on internal systems so that they can be retrieved by other interested parties when required and published outside of Vacuum Solutions if required.
- Carry out testing both in house and on site in accordance with defined requirements to support problem resolution. Record and provide intended test data results to relevant departments - Undertake basic analysis of product software data logs to draw conclusions provide recommendations and identify further actions or subsequent investigations where necessary.
- Contribute within the team and organization any improvement of procedures and practices identified so that the effectiveness and efficiency of the product, procedure or practice are generally improved.
- Work in a safe and effective manner in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety policy and ensure that the requirements under Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act are always met.
- Occasionally support purchasing activities within a defined scope, subject to line manager approval, using company procurement systems.
- Collaborate with the sales team on new business opportunities, introduce new solutions to customers, demonstrate the benefits of upgrading existing products or systems, and assist in simulating cost savings offered by new solutions Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in engineering - At least 5 years in a mechanical engineering / manufacturing environment with exposure to product development and/or product support activities. Previous experience in vacuum technology is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to complete assigned tasks independently, meeting defined time and quality standards with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to visit customers and suppliers, and capable of completing own tasks or delivering straightforward presentations under supervision.
- Good command of English, sufficient for effective communication in daily work.
- Effectively acquires and applies specialist knowledge in practical work situations.
- Strong problem solving skills: able to identify root causes, propose effective solutions, and support implementation.
- Self confident in technical knowledge, with clear awareness of personal knowledge limits and the ability to seek guidance when necessary.
- Demonstrates growing business awareness and actively contributes to the improvement of engineering methods and techniques at a detailed operational level
