To facilitate the growth of Rakuten Insight's business in China, we are establishing a standalone system within the China region, which requires building a new local team to manage its development and operation. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented DevOps Engineer to play a key role in the design, build, deployment, and operational support of the system. The ideal candidate will primarily focus on optimizing our infrastructure on China Public Cloud Services, implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, ensuring system reliability, and driving automation across the software development lifecycle. This role requires strong technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with our global teams to ensure the system's stability, performance, and security in compliance with local regulations. Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable infrastructure on China Public Cloud Services (e.g., Alibaba Cloud, Azure China)
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment, testing, and release processes
• Conduct production operations, including deploying developed features and managing infrastructure configurations, on a China Public Cloud Service
• Proactively monitor the production environment on a China Public Cloud Service to ensure stability, performance, and security, defining and tracking key metrics
• Perform Lifecycle Management (LCM) tasks, including upgrading versions for operating systems, middleware, frameworks, and other critical components
• Undertake maintenance and automation development tasks related to the production environment on the China Public Cloud Service, ensuring its long-term health, efficiency, and adherence to security best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the production environment on the China Public Cloud Service, ensuring minimal downtime and impact
• Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with application requirements and to provide operational insights
• Participating in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of application security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of incidents
• Regularly tracking new security threats, vulnerabilities, and technological advancements, ensuring that application/infrastructure security measures remain robust
• Maintaining Clear Data ownership and keeping the data permissions and accessibility clear and up to date
• Creating, Maintaining and Documenting regular production maintenance processes, such as data extraction requests, recovery procedures and other related tasks

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• More than 5 years of professional experience in DevOps processes, culture, and tools, with a strong focus on cloud environments
• Proven experience in infrastructure architecture design and construction on Public Cloud Services (e.g., Alibaba Cloud, Azure China), specifically within the China region
• Practical experience in operating and maintaining systems on China Public Cloud including IAM and security best practices
• Familiarity with Application Security domain such as SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC Scanning, Container Scanning, or CSPM
• Demonstrated experience in measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health, and implementing solutions to improve these
• Practical experience in operating and maintaining systems on China Public Cloud Services
• Familiarity with Linux systems, including competence in using command-line tools for system navigation, file manipulation, process management, and basic shell scripting. A strong understanding of Linux-based environments for server deployment and management
• Proficiency in version control systems, especially Git
• Basic knowledge and practical experience in containerization technologies, particularly Docker
• Experienced with security controls and best practices in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment processes
• Experience with message queuing systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Understanding of web security and zero-trust principles
• Practical experience in operating and maintaining systems on China Public Cloud including IAM and security best practices
• Business-level English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with international teams.

• Experience in designing and implementing scalable and high-performance systems
• Proficiency in database technologies, including experience with SQL databases such as MySQL and MariaDB
• Solid experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation
• Experience working effectively in a global team environment, collaborating with diverse technical and non-technical professionals across different regions
• Ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend operational enhancements
• Solid experience in backend application development utilizing Java and the SpringBoot framework
• Experience in system design and implementation utilizing a microservices architecture
• Japanese communication skills
