Job Purpose
Lead all plant engineering functions to deliver safe, stable, efficient and scalable manufacturing processes — from standard work and cycle times on the line today, to flawless launch readiness for tomorrow's products. This role is accountable for process design and validation, industrial engineering and capacity, equipment and tooling, NPI execution, and the engineering engine behind the plant's continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities
Process Engineering & Standard Work
- Own the design, validation and execution of all manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet safety, quality, efficiency and capacity targets.
- Own and maintain standard work, cycle times, headcount definitions and direct labor requirements in partnership with Industrial Engineering.
- Develop, validate and periodically review PFMEAs; ensure process audits are completed with effective corrective actions.
- Conduct regular safety process walks (Gemba) and implement countermeasures that eliminate process-related risk.
Industrial Engineering, Capacity & Layout
- Build annual and multi-year capacity models; identify bottlenecks and constraints that limit growth.
- Define layout, flow and material presentation; run capacity studies to support new products, volume increases and changing customer requirements.
- Translate enterprise and divisional objectives into plant-level engineering execution plans.
New Product Introduction & Launch Readiness
- Deliver flawless, on-time process implementation for new product launches, including LV0 / LV1 execution and documentation.
- Lead Engineering Change Notice (ECN) implementation, packaging validation, and process readiness for launch.
- Partner with Product Brand Teams, R&D and Marketing to industrialize new designs without compromising cost or quality.
Equipment, Tooling & Maintenance Engineering
- Specify, commission and validate equipment and tooling — from assembly cells and sewing/cutting operations to roll-forming, coil-coating, slitting and fabrication lines.
- Drive OEE, preventive maintenance effectiveness and equipment utilization with Maintenance.
- Manage capital effectiveness — build the business case (IRR/ROI), execute Capex projects, and deliver the committed savings.
Lean Management System & Continuous Improvement
- Champion the Lean Management System as the plant's operating system — standard work, visual management, tiered daily management, Leader Standard Work, hour-by-hour and gap management.
- Lead and sponsor Kaizen events; use VSM, 5S, SMED, line balancing, root-cause problem solving to eliminate waste in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Build CI capability across all levels — mentor engineers, supervisors and operators so improvement outlasts any individual.
Quality, RCCM & Compliance
- Lead Root Cause Corrective Measures (RCCM) and participate in Rapid Response / DMAIC teams to eliminate plant-controllable defects.
- Drive improvements in first-pass yield, rework, scrap and warranty reduction, and eliminate product escapes.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, product safety and all applicable regulatory standards.
Team, Safety & Culture
- Hire, develop and retain a high-performing engineering organization; build succession depth.
- Role-model a safety-first, employee-first culture; be highly visible on the floor.
- Operate effectively in a matrixed model — influencing Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, HR and Finance partners who do not report to you.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's/MBA preferred).
- 10 years in manufacturing/process engineering, with 10 years in a manufacturing environment and 5 years leading engineering teams.
- Deep command of PFMEA, standard work, cycle-time and headcount modelling, operational efficiency optimization.
- Proven in high-mix, made-to-order / engineer-to-order environments — custom products with short lead times.
- Strong Lean toolkit: VSM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, standard work, line balancing, root-cause problem solving, Gemba, Leader Standard Work; exposure to a formal Lean Management System (HDMS/LMS/TPS).
- Demonstrated success launching new products through a stage-gate / LV0-LV1 process, including ECN and packaging validation.
- Data-driven: SAP (or equivalent ERP/MRP) plus strong analytical capability (Excel; Tableau / Power BI / Minitab a plus).
- Excellent English (written and spoken);
