Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Responsible for equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, mechanical system optimization, root cause analysis, asset management, spare parts strategy, equipment upgrades, and maintenance engineering support within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Reliability &
  • Maintenance

• Improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintenance effectiveness.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring failures.
• Develop, optimize, and sustain PM/PdM programs, job plans, and maintenance procedures.

Mechanical Engineering Support

• Provide mechanical engineering support for manufacturing equipment and related systems.
• Support equipment modifications, upgrades, and life cycle management.
• Identify and implement solutions for recurring equipment issues.

• Projects &
  • Continuous Improvement

• Support capital projects, equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Lead or participate in PEX, cost reduction, and productivity improvement projects.
• Drive maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate mechanical technical training, workshops, and best practice sharing activities.

• CMMS &
  • Asset Management

• Maintain equipment records, maintenance strategies, and technical documentation in CMMS.
• Support spare parts optimization and obsolescence management.
• Analyze maintenance and reliability data to identify trends and implement improvement actions.

• Safety &
  • Compliance

• Ensure maintenance activities comply with EHS, quality, and company standards.

Support audits and implementation of corrective actions.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor's Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design &
  • Manufacturing Automation, Mechatronics, or related engineering disciplines.

• Knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing equipment, maintenance engineering, equipment reliability, and industrial utility systems.
• Familiarity with equipment design, system integration, energy efficiency, condition monitoring, and asset lifecycle management.
• Understanding of PM, PdM, root cause analysis (RCA), reliability engineering, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of CMMS systems, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and industrial safety requirements.
• Minimum 3years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, maintenance engineering, mechanical engineering, equipment installation, commissioning, or reliability improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems.
• Ability to analyze maintenance data and drive improvements in equipment availability, reliability, safety, and cost performance.
• Ability to read and understand English technical documents and communicate effectively in English.

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Good project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS, maintenance planning, spare parts management, and obsolescence management is preferred.
• Experience in maintenance strategy development, reliability improvement, and asset management is preferred.
• Experience in supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades, startup, and commissioning activities is preferred.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, vibration analysis, thermography, or predictive maintenance techniques is preferred.
