Apache Committer / Open Source Engineer at BairesDev

As an Apache Committer / Open Source Engineer, you will actively contribute to the Apache Software Foundation ecosystem, driving the development and maintenance of critical open-source projects. You will serve as a key link between enterprise requirements and community-driven innovation, ensuring the stability and evolution of the projects used by our global clients.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute high-quality code and documentation to one or more upstream Apache Software Foundation projects using Java and project-specific tools.
  • Participate in open-source community governance by voting on project releases and architectural improvements.
  • Perform thorough code reviews and mentor other contributors to maintain the high standards of software excellence required by the foundation.
  • Collaborate with global maintainers to design and implement next-generation features, performance optimizations, and bug fixes.
  • Monitor project health and security vulnerabilities to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of the software ecosystem.

What we are looking for

  • 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Open Source development.
  • Proven track record as an active committer to one or more Apache Software Foundation projects.
  • Proficiency in Java and deep understanding of open source community governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in code reviews, releases, and upstream contributions.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
