We are looking for a motivated
Junior Full-Stack Developer
to help us build, maintain, and evolve our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), powered by Backstage.
In this role, you will develop plugins that unlock new self-service capabilities for our engineering teams, helping to reduce cycle time and standardize the organization's golden paths. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of software development, platform engineering, and DevSecOps while contributing to a platform that empowers developers across the company.
Responsibilities
- Design, evolve, test, and propose reference architectures aligned with the organization's architectural guidelines, validating them through proofs of concept implemented as software templates or scaffolders within the IDP
- Build and enforce security guidelines across IDP plugins and workflows, ensuring that development and DevSecOps teams operate under secure standards directly from the portal (shift-left security)
- Actively contribute to the technical roadmap of the IDP by developing platform building blocks that move the current architecture closer to the organization's target (to-be) state
- Continuously research tools and patterns within the internal platform ecosystem — such as Backstage plugins, Actions Registry, and AWS integrations — to propose improvements to reference architectures where applicable
- Create solution prototypes and experimental plugins to validate new capabilities before rolling them out to the production IDP
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in full-stack development with TypeScript and React (this is core to Backstage and is a firm requirement)
- Hands-on experience building applications with Node.js and backend frameworks such as Express or Fastify
- Working knowledge of Backstage.io, including plugin architecture, Software Catalog, Scaffolder, and TechDocs
- Experience with AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and API Gateway
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for platform deployment
- English level: B1 or higher (both spoken and written)
Nice to have
- Prior experience contributing to an Internal Developer Platform or developer portal
- Exposure to shift-left security practices and DevSecOps workflows
- Experience creating proofs of concept or prototypes to validate architectural decisions
