Ingrid Ugarte

I am currently an advanced undergraduate student in biotechnology at the National University. Within biotechnology I am passionate about the branches of microbiology, molecular biology and forensic biology. By several internships I have done and by being a laboratory assistant I have acquired experience in culture media preparation, establishment and maintenance of cultures, handling of physico-chemical equipment and aseptic technique.

Molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA extraction as well as basic bioinformatics tools.

1. Supervised internship at Centro de Investigaciones de Productos Naturales (CIPRONA), San José

• Tests with the plant Justicia sp to statistically prove the production of a secondary metabolite. 
• Media preparation, establishing a plant culture in vitro, statistical testing

• Maintenance of organisms cultures, culture media preparation, laboratory equipment handling, inventory management, toxicity tests execution.

• Performing DNA & RNA extractions, PCR, cDNA extraction, handling sequencing products and use of bioinformatics techniques

• Undergraduate student in Biotechnology, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica
