About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Application Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Sternenfels near Pforzheim. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our international customers by providing technical expertise on our advanced equipment and processes. Your primary responsibilities will include developing, optimizing, and demonstrating lithography and bonding processes, ensuring that customer requirements are met with precision and efficiency.

You will work closely with our clients, guiding them through process applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and continuously improving our solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of semiconductor technology, working directly with cutting-edge equipment and contributing to the development of innovative process solutions.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a successfully completed master's degree in microstructuring, materials science, chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Prior professional experience as an Application Technician or in a similar role within the semiconductor or custom machinery industry is highly desirable. Candidates with knowledge of semiconductor technology or experience in special machine construction will have an advantage.

A customer and service-oriented mindset is essential, along with a structured, goal-oriented approach to work and effective time management. Teamwork and the ability to collaborate across disciplines are crucial, as well as a willingness to undertake international travel of at least 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

As an Application Engineer, your key responsibilities will include serving as the expert for the application of SÜSS MicroTec equipment in customer processes. You will conduct demonstration processes on existing SÜSS systems and compile detailed reports for clients. Developing and continuously refining lithography and bonding processes will be a core part of your role.

You will support Application Technicians in operational tasks and troubleshoot quality issues to ensure optimal process performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for onboarding and adjusting processes at customer sites to enhance process efficiency and quality under real production conditions. Collaborating with Application Scientists, you will analyze process results, generate insights, and contribute suggestions for process and equipment improvements.

Your proactive approach will help drive innovation within the application department, ensuring our solutions remain at the cutting edge of technology.
