Business Controller eCommerce multi brand scale up

Munich - 3/4 days in office

We’re supporting a fast-paced, scale-up eCommerce business (€300m turnover) with multiple recent acquisitions. They are searching for a Business Controller for the DACH region, responsible for a portfolio of brands.

Key Responsibilities

P&L Controlling & Financial Ownership

  • Full ownership of P&L controlling, including Sales, COGS, A&P, fulfilment, payroll and OpEx.
  • Act as the primary financial contact for the business unit.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead the annual budget process and quarterly latest estimates in close collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provide clear commentary on variances, risks and opportunities.
Month-End Close & Financial Accuracy
  • Own month-end close from a controlling perspective.
  • Review postings, prepare and validate accruals, provisions and deferrals.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of results before sign-off.
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with the GM, Brand Owner, Marketing, Supply Chain and other functions.
  • Proactively drive discussions, challenge assumptions and push insights, rather than operating in a silo.
  • Support decision-making with clear, pragmatic financial input.
Payroll & Inventory Controlling
  • Review and control payroll processed by external providers, manage deviations and approve month-end posting.
  • Manage finished goods inventory controlling, including invoice checks, accruals/deferrals and discrepancy resolution with Supply Chain.
Data, Reporting & Systems
  • Prepare and adjust sales and COGS data and upload A&P and fulfilment costs into the data cube by country and brand.
  • Support reporting through Power BI, Tableau and Snowflake in a non-fully automated environment.

Profile Required

  • Strong experience in business or commercial controlling with full P&L responsibility.
  • Proven ownership of budgeting, forecasting and month-end close.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, Excel-heavy environment.
  • Ideally, coming from an eCommerce scale-up company.
  • Confident, proactive communicator able to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with centralised finance functions and external providers.
  • Power BI experience is desirable.
