Data Platform Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join a long-term data transformation programme based in Berlin.

This is a hands-on engineering role working across modern data platforms, data pipelines and cloud technologies, helping build and improve scalable data capabilities within a wider engineering team.

The role

• Design, build and optimise scalable data platform solutions
• Develop and maintain data ingestion and processing pipelines
• Work with cloud-based data platforms and modern data technologies
• Support data lake and data warehouse environments
• Improve platform performance, reliability and scalability
• Automate deployment and operational processes
• Work closely with Data Engineers, Architects and Data/AI teams
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation's data platform

Experience required

• Strong commercial experience in Data Platform Engineering, Data Engineering or a closely related role
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience building data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Experience working with modern cloud data platforms
• Knowledge of data lake, data warehouse or lakehouse architectures
• Experience with one or more of Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric
• Understanding of CI/CD, automation and DevOps practices
• Comfortable working with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Language requirement

• Fluent German is essential.

You must be able to communicate confidently in German with internal stakeholders and project teams. English is also required.
