About The Role We are seeking a skilled Java Specialist to join our dynamic team and contribute to the ongoing development and operation of our service landscape at 50Hertz. In this pivotal role, you will be part of a company-wide task force working on the internet platform for Regelleistung, a comprehensive system used by the four German transmission network operators.
Your primary responsibilities will include developing robust software solutions, maintaining secure and reliable IT services, and ensuring the stability of critical infrastructure that supports the integrity of the German power grid. You will work collaboratively within a cross-functional Scrum team comprising developers, architects, and product owners, engaging in the entire service lifecycle from design and development to deployment and support. This position offers an excellent opportunity to influence the future of energy management in Germany, working on innovative projects that directly contribute to the stability and security of the national energy system.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a degree in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable qualification. You should possess several years of professional experience in software development, particularly with TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, and Java-based services such as Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
Experience with database management systems like PostgreSQL is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of developing high-availability, redundant applications, microservice architectures, API design, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with DevOps practices, application support, and modern development processes like CI/CD, automated testing, and version control is also required.
Excellent communication skills in English (minimum C1 level) and good command of German (minimum B2–C1) are necessary. Additional knowledge in cloud-native environments, energy market processes, and regulatory IT systems is advantageous, but not mandatory.
