About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer (m/w/d) to join our team in Essen. In this pivotal role, you will focus on software design, development, and implementation, playing a crucial part in enhancing our digital infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will include expanding and migrating existing applications to the cloud, ensuring they meet modern standards of scalability, security, and performance.You will analyze and document requirements, collaborate actively within an agile SCRUM team, and develop applications for both cloud and on-premise systems. Your work will help us deliver customer-centric solutions that ensure our customers receive their orders quickly, reliably, and effortlessly. As part of our international team, you will communicate with internal and external stakeholders, establishing quality standards for code and promoting a DevOps mindset across the organization.
This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative cloud-native applications, microservices, and automation tools, contributing to the continuous improvement of our fulfillment solutions.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in (business) informatics or a comparable qualification, with several years of professional experience in Java software development. You should possess a strong understanding of establishing high-quality code within a team environment. Proficiency in common Java development environments such as Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA, along with tools like Maven and Jenkins, is essential.
Experience working in agile development teams and a desire to be a key member of a SCRUM team are important. Additionally, familiarity with cloud-native applications (Azure Function Apps, serverless computing), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab), containerization (Docker, Postman), event-driven microservices, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) will be highly advantageous. You should demonstrate qualities such as quality awareness, responsibility, and strong teamwork skills, complemented by an analytical and conceptual working style.
Fluency in German and English, both spoken and written, is required for effective communication within our international environment.
Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining robust software solutions tailored to our business needs. You will lead the expansion and migration of existing applications into the cloud environment, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Analyzing and documenting functional and technical requirements will be part of your daily tasks, along with actively participating in SCRUM ceremonies and sprint planning.You will establish and uphold coding standards and best practices, promoting a DevOps culture within the team. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across different countries, you will ensure that our applications align with customer expectations and business objectives. You will also contribute to the development of microservices, implement automation processes, and support infrastructure as code initiatives.
