About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Java Developer / Software Developer (m/f/d) to join our dynamic team at INIT in Karlsruhe. In this role, you will be integral to the development and enhancement of our MOBILE-PLAN software suite, which plays a crucial role in planning and data management for public transportation operations. You will work on a variety of tasks ranging from designing user interfaces and data models to implementing complex system interfaces.

Collaborating closely with colleagues from consulting, sales, and international clients, you will contribute to delivering high-quality software solutions that meet our customers' needs. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on impactful projects that influence urban mobility worldwide, while also providing avenues for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a technical field such as computer science or have vocational training as an IT specialist in application development. You should have proven experience in Java-based software development, demonstrating your ability to handle the full development lifecycle. Familiarity with relational databases like Oracle, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, and the ability to craft complex, high-performance queries, will be advantageous.

Strong communication skills in both German and English are essential, as you will interact with international teams and clients. A proactive team player who enjoys collaborative problem-solving and customer interaction will thrive in this role. Additionally, willingness to undertake occasional on-site visits for project requirements or client meetings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment and maintenance.
• Design and implement user interfaces, data models, and system interfaces using technologies such as Swing/JavaFX, Groovy, and JPA.
• Utilize version control tools like Git and SVN, and build automation tools such as Maven to streamline development processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including consulting and sales to address technical questions during requirements gathering and support cases.
• Work closely with other development teams on interface integration and system enhancements.
• Take project ownership within the team, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards are met.
• Engage with national and international clients to understand their needs and provide technical support and solutions.
• Participate in international business trips occasionally to support on-site client requirements and project implementations.
