About The Role
Leidos is seeking an expert-level Infoblox Subject Matter Expert to support the U.S.
Africa
Command (AFRICOM) mission. This critical role serves as the primary technical authority overseeing the Command’s Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and IP Address Management (IPAM) infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the 100% availability of core network services across a geographically dispersed, highly classified enterprise environment.
This role involves managing the Infoblox Grid, automating IPAM workflows, and implementing security measures to protect DNS traffic against advanced cyber threats. The position offers an opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure in a challenging and rewarding environment, contributing directly to national security objectives.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and extensive technical experience aligned with TES standards. A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline coupled with at least three years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree with seven years of experience, or a minimum of eleven years of specialized technical expertise without a degree, will meet the qualification criteria. Candidates must hold an active Top Secret security clearance and meet DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II baseline certification, such as Security+ CE.
Proven hands-on experience with Infoblox NIOS administration, DDI protocols, and network security is essential. Deep understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting, and related protocols is required, along with familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages like Python or Perl. Additional certifications such as Infoblox Core Engineer (CICE) or Infoblox Core Admin (CICA) are preferred, alongside experience with cloud environments and network automation tools.
Responsibilities The primary responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining a highly available Infoblox NIOS Grid architecture, including Grid Masters and distributed members to ensure resilience and scalability. The candidate will manage authoritative and recursive DNS services, implementing DNSSEC, traffic steering, and high-performance caching to support mission-critical enclaves. Architecting and managing robust DHCP services with failover capabilities across global sites is also a key task.
Maintaining the enterprise IPAM database involves accurate subnet allocation, tracking, and integration with cloud and virtualized environments. Implementing DNS security features such as Response Policy Zones (RPZ), DNS Firewall, and Infoblox TIDE is essential to mitigate malware and data exfiltration risks. The role requires leveraging Infoblox WAPI (REST API) for automation, scripting, and integration with orchestration tools like Ansible or Terraform.
Planning and executing non-disruptive software upgrades and hardware refreshes across the global Grid are critical to maintaining operational continuity. Additionally, monitoring network performance, analyzing data through Infoblox reporting tools, troubleshooting issues, and capacity planning are integral to the role.
