• *About The Role**

As a Python Developer (m/w/d) specializing in Backend & Data Engineering at Stiftung Kirchliches Rechenzentrum Südwestdeutschland, you will play a pivotal role in developing and optimizing the data-driven core of our services. Your primary responsibility will be designing and implementing scalable backend services and APIs using Python, with a focus on performance and reliability. You will handle business-critical ETL processes and data pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow and processing across various systems. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the architecture of new data solutions, improve existing workflows, and ensure high-quality code through testing and DevOps practices. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency and robustness of our data infrastructure, supporting the organization’s mission to deliver secure and efficient IT services to ecclesiastical clients.

• *Qualifications**

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant educational background in software development, computer science, or a related field, complemented by practical experience in backend development. You should be highly proficient in Python, with extensive experience in developing scalable backend applications and APIs. Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL is essential, along with experience in designing and optimizing ETL processes. Familiarity with performance tuning, profiling, and troubleshooting Python code is required. Experience working with ITSM tools like Jira and ServiceNow, handling support tickets at 2nd and 3rd level, is highly desirable. Additional skills in DevOps practices, containerization with Docker, and application monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana will set you apart. A proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset is crucial, along with excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

• *Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs primarily using Python and FastAPI.
• Serve as a key contact for technical support, managing and resolving service requests and tickets via ITSM tools such as Jira and ServiceNow.
• Develop and enhance critical ETL processes and data pipelines, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Analyze existing data workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements to optimize processing speeds.
• Create efficient SQL queries and optimize database interactions with systems like Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Ensure code quality through comprehensive testing and collaborate with the DevOps team to containerize applications using Docker and deploy within our GitLab/Nomad environment.
• Contribute to the technical architecture of new data solutions, documenting processes and designs in internal wikis and Jira.
