Software Engineer
TaskVerseStellenbeschreibung
About The Company Join Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung e.V. (DGUV), the umbrella organization of Germany’s nine commercial employers’ liability insurance associations and 24 public-sector accident insurance funds. DGUV’s mission focuses on prevention, rehabilitation, and compensation, helping protect people’s safety and health at work and in education.
Your practical training will take place across two areas: the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) and the IT and Digitalization Department (ITD). IFA supports statutory accident insurance providers with scientific and technical expertise, including research, development, product testing, workplace measurements, consulting, and standardization. ITD delivers IT services throughout DGUV, from software development and data center operations to user support, while advancing digitalization and collaboration with ministries and other social insurance organizations.
About The Role DGUV is seeking a student for a dual study program in Software Engineering beginning August 1, 2027, at its Sankt Augustin location. This eight-semester program combines academic study at RheinAhrCampus in Remagen with three practical semesters at DGUV. You will work with colleagues in both IFA and ITD, gaining experience on IT and research projects while applying your academic learning in a professional environment.
The program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.). With guidance from experienced colleagues, you will build your technical knowledge, develop practical skills, and explore how software can support research, occupational safety, and digital services. This opportunity is suited to someone who wants to contribute to meaningful work while learning how modern software and IT systems are designed and delivered.
Qualifications You have completed, or are close to completing, the German general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, ideally with good to very good results. You are interested in mathematics and computer science and curious about how software and IT systems work. You bring motivation, a willingness to learn, and an interest in developing and designing solutions. You enjoy working with others and contributing as part of a team.
You have good written and spoken German skills at a minimum of C1 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. English skills are welcome, as is an interest in improving them. Applicants should be ready to combine academic study with practical work and to learn across different teams and subject areas.
Responsibilities During your practical semesters, you will contribute to cross-departmental IT projects and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative workplace. You will learn how complex software solutions are planned, designed, developed, and programmed, and see how software engineering is applied in scientific and research settings.
You will also gain insight into the coordination, monitoring, and management of IT infrastructure. As your studies progress, you will apply course concepts to real tasks, strengthen your technical capabilities, and learn from experienced colleagues. Your work will help you understand the connections between software development, research, and the digital services that support DGUV’s mission.
After reviewing your application, DGUV may invite you to a meet-and-greet day. The date will be provided in advance. For questions about the role, contact Moritz Schneider at extension 3164. For application-process questions, quote reference STU-SE-27 and contact Özge Sarikaya at +49 30 13001 1724 or Désirée Olry at +49 30 13001 1726.
Benefits DGUV offers meaningful work that contributes to safety, health, and social security. Monthly compensation is €1,368.26 in the first year, €1,418.20 in the second year, €1,464.02 in the third year, and €1,527.59 in the fourth year. A special annual payment is also provided.
Additional benefits include 30 days of annual leave, flexible working hours, subsidized meals in the company cafeteria, and modern equipment, including an additional notebook or iPad. You can make use of ergonomic workstations, sports and activity offerings, professional and personal development opportunities, and a company pension through VBL. DGUV also supports sustainable mobility, for example with a subsidy for the Deutschlandticket Job.
The workplace promotes inclusion and offers an environment designed to support health and well-being.
