Dimitrios Kastrinakis

I am a Software Engineer with 2 years of professional experience, developing software and REST APIs (mainly in PHP), writing clean & maintainable code, and finding solutions to whatever engineering problem I may face. I am truly passionate about anything related to big data and distributed applications. I have a published paper from my Master's degree on real-time distributed processing with Apache Kafka and Flink on GCP.

My professional experience includes 2 years as a Junior Software engineer in Epignosis, developing a modern REST API in PHP and maintaining & refactoring legacy PHP code to new standards. Other tasks include optimizing database queries, implementing authentication/authorization features, and developing a Meeting analytics dashboard by aggregating Google Calendar data. Previous experiences include working as a Web Developer for a local company providing websites for businesses, as well as working at my University for 3 years as a technical assistant, developing student management applications, workflow Python scripts, and general IT tasks.

I have obtained an Electrical and Computer MEng & BSc degree from the Technical University of Crete, from a 5-year program (8.09/10). My focus has been on software and computer engineering, and more specifically, web development & distributed applications and systems. At the end of this degree, I published my Master's thesis as an article about real-time distributed processing of videos, on the cloud using Apache Kafka, Flink, and GCP.
