Yvonne Buchheim is an interdisciplinary artist who often uses drawing, photography and writing in her animated stop-motion films. Her practice explores personal life experiences of loss and belonging as these intimate themes aim to connect with wider social concerns. She spent twenty years living abroad and returned to Germany in 2019. Yvonne Buchheim’s artworks have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in North America, the Middle East, and Europe.

An integral part of her practice is art education; she has taught at universities and been involved in independent projects in different cultures and contexts. She held a permanent position as Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England for ten years before moving to Cairo in 2012 where she continued her art practice and educational projects.
