Infrastructure Engineer

SCADA Server Infrastructure Engineer – OT Compute & Storage Platforms (Energy Sector)

We are looking for an experienced Server Infrastructure Engineer to deliver and maintain a stable, secure, scalable, and high-performing compute and storage foundation for OT systems within a large energy organisation.

The role covers both virtual and physical server platforms supporting SCADA. You will ensure continuous availability, implement robust backup and disaster recovery mechanisms, and apply lifecycle engineering principles to keep server platforms modern, reliable, and aligned with internal standards. The role may in the future be subject to security clearance, and candidates must be able to meet the applicable screening requirements.

Typical deliverables

• Engineering, deployment, and lifecycle management of virtual and physical OT server environments
• Server lifecycle assessments, and development and maintenance of upgrade and maintenance roadmaps
• Execution of server replacements and migrations
• Design and validation of backup, restore, high-availability, and failover solutions
• Proactive monitoring of performance, health, and capacity
• Incident analysis with corrective and preventive actions, and proactive infrastructure improvements
• Participation in design reviews, acceptance testing, and operational readiness exercises
• Planning and recording of tasks, and documentation of results and knowledge
• Support for internal and external audit requirements

Requirements (must have)

• Good knowledge of and experience with security solutions such as Trend Micro Deep Security, and basic familiarity with Splunk, Syslog, and similar tools
• Good understanding of and experience with Windows and Linux system administration
• Good knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, vSAN)
• Hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware (e.g., Dell, HPE, IBM)
• Expertise in backup, disaster recovery, and patch management solutions (e.g., Veeam)
• Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, certificates, and domain services integration within Windows Server architecture
• Basic understanding of OT networks
• Experience preparing detailed technical documentation of server architectures, configurations, and procedures, and supporting supplier/solution validation
• Professional proficiency in English

Nice to have

• Automation experience (e.g., PowerShell scripting)
• Experience from SCADA, OT, or other mission-critical environments
