My name is Matteo, I am a self-taught programmer with a focus on frontend. I started working very early, just out of high school, in the field of veterinary medicine with the role of sales representative. It was a job halfway between the technician and the salesman and, without knowing it, it was preparing me to become a programmer.
After working on some Wordpress projects for the same company I became a freelancer and I followed clients in the process of realizing their ideas and turn them into a real product. This is the thing that has always fascinated me the most about this profession. Later I worked full time on some important projects including an online booking system for a group of private hospitals in northern Italy and an insurance policy marketplace in Milan.
They were both very formative experiences but I lacked contact with the final users, and so I decided to make a change of life by moving to Denmark in late 2020.
In Denmark I worked with the Royal Danish Library and that was a fantastic experience that rekindled in me the passion for this job, something that hasn't happened to me for some time. The initial goal was to make a restyling of their website created with an old version of Wordpress which was responsible for providing assistance and guidelines to students of universities in Denmark.After a few meetings with the team responsible for the project and a colleague of mine, we understood that a simple restyling wouldn’t be enough, so we decided to develop a new e- learning platform with new modern features.
The platform would have always had Wordpress at the basis, in order to keep the familiarity usage for content creators but it would have been completely revisited from the point of view of features such as easier management and categorization of backend resources, management and creation of customized roles, customized quizzes and the creation of custom layouts thanks to components developed in React and more.
All supported by a new and modern graphic interface.
I love to work in projects that closely involve users, giving them good experiences. I like to interact with them during the design / development process and create the solutions that best suit their needs.
I consider myself a person who is always looking for challenges where I can learn and experiment and I am not afraid of making mistakes. I am constantly developing my competencies, being up to date with the latest trends in the IT world. Currently I am deeply exploring full stack development and blockchain technologies.
