Stig Nielsson

I am an expert C# and .Net Application Architect and Software Engineer with almost 25 years of experience as an independent IT contractor, application architect, developer, and co-founder of several startups.

I hold a master's degree in software engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and 1st part of HD from CBS.

I do contract work using my extensive experience and up-to-date expert .Net and C# knowledge to help and mentor clients to design and implement modern, scalable, and maintainable .Net and C# solutions.

My ideal role is as a "hands-on" application architect, lead developer, and mentor for less experienced developers.

I have extensive experience in the financial industry and others, designing and implementing scalable cloud-native microservices, modular monoliths, REST and GRPC APIs, websites, background workers, and CLI tools.

In my work, I advise on and use elements of Domain Driven Design, Clean/Onion architecture, SOLID principles, and classic design patterns to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions that are testable and maintainable.

I prefer using DevOps best practices to ensure continuous deliveries of high quality. Furthermore, I value providing proper documentation of code and design decisions, and I am aware of ensuring good communication with all stakeholders.

I am primarily a .Net and C# expert. Still, I also have frontend experience with JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, and CSS, and I am also interested in the Rust programming language, AI, and software engineering in general.

My prior technical experience includes Windows Forms, low-level C code in operating system kernels, development of compilers, functional programming, course instruction, C++ programming, and Perl scripting in Unix and Linux systems.

For the last 15 years, I have primarily worked as an external consultant as a .Net Application Architect and expert C# developer, primarily in the financial industry. In total, I have almost 25 years of experience as an independent IT contractor, application architect, developer, and co-founder of several startups.

Master's degree in software engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Designed a high-level concurrent programming language for embedded systems and implemented a compiler for the language in my Master’s thesis, which got a grade of 11 (A).
