Design Manager

Role Description The Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in New Cairo, responsible for overseeing the design process across architectural, interior, and engineering disciplines. This role includes leading and coordinating design teams, reviewing and integrating concepts, and ensuring that design solutions meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints.

The Design

Manager will manage design schedules, supervise the preparation and quality of drawings and documentation, and collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment from concept through construction. Daily activities involve guiding design reviews, resolving technical issues, supporting tendering and shop drawing efforts, and contributing to the continuous improvement of design standards and workflows. The role also requires mentoring team members, promoting efficient design practices, and maintaining clear communication channels within the team and with clients.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in managing multidisciplinary design teams in architecture, interior design, and engineering environments, with proven ability to coordinate across structural, electro-mechanical, and architectural disciplines.
• Proficiency in design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit or other BIM platforms, and visualization software for 3D rendering and presentations.
• Demonstrated expertise in design development, detailing, and review of drawings and specifications, including integration of shop drawings and support for tender documents.
• Solid understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and collaboration with construction supervision and site teams.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, with experience ensuring compliance and constructability in design solutions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present design concepts and lead meetings with clients and consultants.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, prior experience in consultancy firms or similar project environments is highly desirable.
