About the role
We're hiring a Backend / Automation Engineer to build and scale the automation layer behind one of our flagship data products. This is a hands-on engineering role centered on mobile automation and automation testing — building reliable systems that interact with mobile applications programmatically to collect, process, and analyze data at scale. If you enjoy building automation that runs unattended and doesn't break at 3am, this is for you.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain mobile automation systems that drive real mobile apps programmatically
- Apply automation testing practices to keep these systems stable, repeatable, and reliable
- Write robust backend services in Python (and/or Node.js) that orchestrate and schedule automation flows
- Perform behavior analysis — studying app and user interaction patterns to design smarter, more resilient automation
- Engineer for reliability: explicit waits, retry/backoff logic, idempotency, and graceful failure handling for unattended runs
- Scale automation across multiple devices and parallel sessions
- Integrate automation with our AI-driven decision layer
- Own your work end-to-end — from design to deployment (Docker, CI/CD)
Must-have requirements (please only apply if you meet these)
- 2+ years building production backend services in Python or Node.js
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience automating mobile apps using any mobile automation framework — you should be able to show us something real you've built
- Solid automation testing skills (writing, structuring, and maintaining automated test suites)
- Strong understanding of concurrency, error handling, and writing code that runs reliably without supervision
- Comfortable with REST APIs, databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB), Git, and Docker
- Able to communicate clearly in English (Arabic is a strong plus)
Nice to have
- Behavior analysis experience — interaction patterns, event tracking, or anomaly detection
- Experience with AI agents, LLM tool calling, or autonomous workflows
- Large-scale data extraction or processing pipelines
- Background in RPA or unattended automation systems
