SQL Database Administrator

About the Role

We are looking for a Resident Engineer – Database Administrator to join our Web Hosting team. The role will be responsible for managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliable backup and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server in standalone and clustered environments.
• Monitor database performance and health, and perform performance tuning and optimization.
• Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
• Manage database backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Automate database administration tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Support database integration with web applications, APIs, and third-party systems.
• Implement database security, access control, encryption, and required security updates.
• Troubleshoot database and application-related issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Work closely with Developers, System Administrators, and other technical teams.
• Support capacity planning, solution design, and infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Database Administration, System Administration, or IT Operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Good knowledge of SQL Server Clustering and Always On Availability Groups.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization.
• Good knowledge of Windows Server Administration and IIS.
• Experience supporting web applications and APIs.
• Good knowledge of SQL/T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Understanding of ITIL fundamentals, monitoring, and incident management.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with database integration and ETL.
• Experience with Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or hybrid environments.
• Experience with database migration and integration.
