Hello,
My name is Afrah Johar. I have been an educator since 2013. I am passionate about educating students of all ages especially adolescents. I believe educating students and supporting them go hand in hand. Furthermore, my philosophy emphasizes helping each student realize his/her potential. Finally, I believe a growth mindset should be embedded in any educational or social program geared towards children and adolescents.
I am a certified language educator- certification is for two languages Arabic(State of California, USA) and English (Cambridge Assessment English, London, UK). Moreover, I have a master's degree in Education (curriculum & instruction) from California in the United States.
2013 Researcher- MA Education (California State University, Dominguez Hills, California)
Action Research-conducted research in a 4 th grade classroom with the purpose of improving mathematical thinking, learning and communication through authentic students' writing activities.
09/2013-01/2015 Substitute Teacher ( Lennox School District, CA, USA)
Developed lesson plans as part of a comprehensive curriculum which included thematic units with various resources (written, visual, audio and kinesthetic).
