Prof. Mercedes Sánchez Moreno / Dept. Inorganic Chemistry and Chemical Engineering welcomes expressions of interest from Postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record of research and publication to apply jointly with the UCO to the European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-FP) Call 2026 to be launched on
9 April 2026 .
My current research focuses on developing new multifunctional construction materials for improving concrete durability, while incorporating advanced functionalities such as anticorrosive behaviour and/or self‑healing properties. My research group is currently interested in developing new additives, based on Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) or microcapsules encapsulating different agents to improve the performance of cementitious‑based materials enhancing durability through different strategies such as impermeabilization, corrosion inhibition and/or self‑healing performance. My projects always intend to go beyond the state‑of‑the‑art in developing cement‑based materials with added value, considering both the production of new materials and the development of repair solutions with advanced functionalities, looking for updating the performance of our developments to the requirements of the nowadays constructions.
The final goal of my research line is to be able to give answer to the current needs of sustainability, energy efficiency and maximum reduction of raw materials consumed, developing functional and more durable cement‑based construction materials.
If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please forward your
CV and a short motivation letter including your research area, project idea and how your research could contribute to my research line.
