Intro
exnaton is a startup, spun out of ETH Zurich, which provides an AI-powered intelligence platform for new energy, enabling utilities to rapidly design, test, and scale smart, data-driven energy products — from energy sharing and dynamic tariffs to EV smart charging and flexible billing models. Our technology extends existing utility infrastructure with flexible, future-ready solutions, helping energy providers unlock new value from decentralised, digital energy — efficiently without large migrations and at scale.
We are a Switzerland-based start-up, and our vision is to lead the digital transformation of the energy sector worldwide, by empowering utilities and consumers to shape a flexible, transparent, and sustainable energy future. Our team is growing and we are looking for passionate and talented people to complement our team. We are a diverse team, all driven by the shared goal of using technology to create a sustainable impact in our society.
If you’re enthusiastic about contributing to this exciting journey, we invite you to be a part of our innovative and motivated team.
The role can be performed remotely in EU countries.
Your role
As an AI Product Manager at exnaton, you will join our ~40-person team and help shape the company and its product vision at a pivotal moment. AI is fundamentally changing what enterprise software can do, and how it does it. In this role, you will be at the forefront of that shift: defining what AI-native products mean for the energy sector and building the vision and roadmap to get us there.
You will own the product thinking for a new category of AI-native capabilities - agents, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation, and work closely with engineering, data, and commercial teams to bring them to life. Concretely, you will:
- Shape requirements and specifications for AI-native products, including autonomous agents, agentic workflows, and agent-to-agent communication systems,
- Work with customers to explore current and future needs and validate ideas early to ground the product in real-world utility workflows,
- Develop and drive a compelling vision for what an AI-native enterprise software tool looks like in the energy sector,
- Translate that vision into a clear, prioritised roadmap, balancing ambition with pragmatism,
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to define, prototype, and iterate on AI-powered features,
- Stay on top of the rapidly evolving AI landscape and assess which technologies, tools, and approaches are relevant for exnaton.
Your qualifications
- A background in product management, software engineering, or a closely related field - we're open to non-traditional paths if you bring the right skills,
- Hands-on experience working with agentic workflows and/or conversational AI systems, ideally having built or specified them,
- Solid understanding of software architecture and modern technology stacks, including cloud computing, model inference, and API design,
- A genuinely explorative, adaptive character - someone who thrives in ambiguity and moves fast without losing rigour,
- Proactive approach: you identify what needs to be done and do it, without waiting to be asked,
- Comfortable in a dynamic startup environment where things change quickly and learning is constant,
- A team player who communicates clearly, shares context generously, and brings people with them through change,
- Working knowledge of data privacy principles and security considerations in AI systems,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (German a plus for customer interactions).
Benefits
At exnaton, you'll be part of a small, motivated team doing genuinely important work - building the technology that's helping reshape how energy is produced and consumed. Here's what comes with the role:

- Work that matters - exciting technology, a mission you can get behind, and teammates who genuinely care about both.
