Our software delivers insightful observability tools across different technologies and distributed systems, enabling software engineering teams to quickly identify, understand, and tackle issues, analyze performance, and get the most out of their software and infrastructure. You will be building, improving, and maintaining a distributed service architecture capable of ingesting large volumes of data, analyzing spans and traces, and publishing them downstream so the UI can query this data to offer an exceptional experience to our customers.

What you'll do Build, maintain, and scale backend services and their support tools Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity Work closely with product and experience teams to understand product specifications and influence the roadmap for the distributed tracing product at New Relic Create automation and tooling to make our systems more scalable and easier to deploy Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach; teams build and maintain their own software, including participating in on‐call rotations Use AI tools to accelerate your development workflow, from writing and reviewing code to investigating production issues and helping the team adopt what works Embrace a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge This role requires Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling in production environments Strong experience writing software in OOP languages (Kotlin, Java, Go, etc.) and comfort adapting to different languages and frameworks Familiarity with asynchronous programming techniques: streams, event‐based flows, task queues, message queues Comfort working in a fast‐paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools, and methodologies A collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership Adaptability in a rapidly changing industry, curiosity about AI and readiness to enhance your development workflow Proficiency in English Bonus points if you have Contributions to open source projects Understanding of the value that build and test automation brings to development team efficiency and reliability, with passion for applying these techniques Experience with OpenTelemetry or related industry knowledge Experience in technical mentorship and supporting colleagues' skill development Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
