The Fraunhofer Spain Research foundation is looking for a Business Developer for its Fraunhofer CAT center. He/She will be in charge, together with scientists and project managers, to promote, advise and support projects move up in the valorization chain, helping to bring them from TRL 2-3 to TRL 5-6.

The contract will be within the framework of the Fraunhofer CAT project, whose objective is the development of new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools in the field of precision medicine. For example, the development of new technologies for i) the establishment of biomimetic organ and tissue models for in vitro testing, ii) the development of sensors and electronic devices, iii) the design and validation of therapeutic strategies for personalized medicine, and iv) the production and validation of new biological models.

This project is funded by Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, Generalitat de Catalunya and Ajuntament de Barcelona.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Identify scientific and commercial opportunities: analyze emerging research, technologies, innovation trends and industrial needs.

Develop valorization roadmaps of projects, including identification of exploitable results, intermediate milestones, partners and key resources.

Create project-related customer portfolios, identify potential customers and early adopters, and coordinate experimental end-use validation and testing.

Build strategic partnerships and collaborations with research institutions, universities, biotech/pharma companies, other relevant industries, and clinical stakeholders.

Develop and negotiate patents, licensing agreements and partnerships.

Position scientific solutions for the market by creating compelling proposals, pitch decks, and technical–commercial documentation, in close collaboration with scientists involved.

Support consortium building and grant writing for funding opportunities, in close collaboration with project managers and scientists.

Documentation management.

Qualifications

Essential

Advance degree (MSc or PhD) in biotechnology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences, pharmacy or a related field with a postgraduate degree in entrepreneurship and innovation. Alternatively, a degree in economics, business administration or related field with a strong understanding of biotech R&D projects.

Previous experience in technology transfer, business development and product validation in the life science and/or medical technology sector.

Ability to identify and engage with potential customers, early adopters, and strategic partners.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Highly self‑motivated and proactive, with excellent communication skills for pitching the technology to potential clients and investors.
