Role Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented Caption Annotation Specialists (Tier 1)

to support a multimedia annotation project focused on enriching machine-generated captions with detailed descriptions of spoken dialogue, music, and sound effects.

Contributors will review machine-generated transcriptions and create high-quality descriptive captions that accurately represent the audio experience within video content. This role requires strong listening skills, excellent written communication, and careful attention to detail.

The project consists of three annotation phases, and contributors may participate in one or multiple phases depending on their qualifications and expertise.

Responsibilities

As a Caption Annotation Specialist (Tier 1), you will:

• Review machine-generated captions for assigned multimedia content.
• Produce accurate and descriptive annotations based on project guidelines.
• Ensure captions are grammatically correct, consistent, and easy to understand.
• Follow annotation standards while maintaining high quality and productivity.
• Meet project turnaround times and quality expectations.
• Participate in calibration sessions and quality reviews when required.

Vocal Caption Provide detailed written descriptions of spoken voices, including:

• Voice characteristics and tone
• Speaking style and emotion
• Speech rate and pacing
• Dialogue delivery
• Additional vocal attributes when applicable

Music Caption Provide detailed written descriptions of music, including:

• Musical style or genre
• Instrumentation
• Tempo and rhythm
• Mood and atmosphere
• Reverb, effects, and production characteristics

Sound Effect Caption Provide detailed written descriptions of environmental and sound effects, including:

• Type of sound
• Timing within the scene
• Relative volume
• Duration
• Context and audio characteristics

Experience Candidates should possess one or more of the following:

• Experience in data annotation, audio annotation, or multimedia labeling.
• Experience working on speech, language, or AI data projects.
• Familiarity with annotation platforms and quality assurance processes.
• Strong written communication skills in the target language.
• Ability to follow detailed annotation guidelines.
• Experience working remotely in independent contractor environments is preferred.

Preferred Background

Vocal Caption

• Experience with Text-to-Speech (TTS) or Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)

  annotation projects.

• Native-level fluency in the assigned project language.

Music and Sound Effect Caption

• Educational background or professional experience related to:
• Music
• Audio production
• Sound engineering
• Multimedia production
• Audio post-production
• Film or media studies
• Related audio disciplines

Education / Expertise Candidates with educational backgrounds or professional experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
