This role sits within ABB’s Robotics business, a leading general robotics company. ABB Robotics is entering a new chapter as SoftBank Group plans to acquire the business. SoftBank focuses on AI, robotics, and next‑generation computing.
Reporting
Position reports to: R&D Team Lead.
Your Role and Responsibilities
You will serve as the link between product development and real‑world deployments of ABB’s robotic technology, working closely with the Robotics Project Teams, Support Teams, and internal R&D teams. Your key tasks will include investigating field issues, analyzing system performance, identifying root causes, and helping develop solutions that improve product robustness and scalability. You will work hands‑on with robotic platforms to develop and validate new features, reproduce field issues, and verify fixes, providing direct exposure to deployed systems. You will also support the Project and Support Teams by providing expert technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance during integration, commissioning, and operation of deployed systems, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective and scalable solutions. Additionally, you will develop tools, processes, and software adaptations that improve diagnostics and support efficiency, and collect and analyze field feedback to identify product gaps and enhance system performance.
Qualifications
3+ years of industrial experience in robotics, autonomous systems, systems engineering, applications engineering, technical support engineering, or related fields.
Strong software engineering and debugging skills in Python, with experience troubleshooting complex software systems.
Experience working with Linux‑based systems and networking fundamentals.
Familiarity with robotics concepts such as localization, mapping, navigation, perception, or autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
Proven ability to investigate complex technical issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive problems to resolution across multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering, project, support, or customer‑facing teams.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
