English-speaking Runner Partner – Madrid Running Experiences
MAD Alternative RunsDescripción del puesto
About MAD Alternative Runs
MAD Alternative Runs is a Madrid-based project focused on running tours and active experiences for local and international guests. We combine running, the city, local culture, nature and a more alternative way of discovering Madrid. Our first line of experiences includes urban running tours through areas such as Madrid de los Austrias, Chueca/Malasaña, Retiro, Madrid Río and Casa de Campo, usually at a social pace and with small groups.
The wider vision is to grow into private experiences, corporate/wellness formats, trail and nature routes around Madrid, running training formats and active experiences linked to sport, culture, nature and local lifestyle.
We are now looking for an English-speaking Runner Partner in Madrid.
The main priority is to find a runner with excellent English — ideally C1/C2 or native — who can lead urban running tours with international and local guests.
At the same time, we are also interested in running coaches, trail running coaches, personal trainers or outdoor/sports professionals who may not be native English speakers but have a strong enough English level to work confidently with international clients.
This is not a standard tour guide role. We are looking for someone who runs, communicates naturally with people and can represent the MAR experience with energy, care and professionalism.
This is a freelance/professional collaboration, initially based on specific routes, services or experiences. The right person could grow with the project over time and help shape future lines of business, not just lead occasional tours.
Responsibilities
– Lead urban running tours in Madrid for small groups of local and international guests.– Run comfortably with participants at a social pace, usually between 7 and 12 km.
– Create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for different types of runners.
– Communicate clearly and confidently in English with international guests.
– Use Spanish when needed for local clients and internal coordination.
– Adapt pace, tone and explanations depending on the group.
– Share Madrid in an active, authentic and engaging way.
– Represent the MAD Alternative Runs brand with professionalism, reliability and good energy.
– Support the development of future routes and experiences when there is a good fit.
– Help identify improvements in the customer experience, route flow, storytelling and operational details.
– Potentially collaborate in future private experiences, corporate/wellness formats, trail/nature routes or running training experiences.
Priority profile
– Regular runner, comfortable with 7–12 km at a social pace.– Excellent English for the main Runner Partner profile, ideally C1/C2 or native.
– Good Spanish level for local clients and internal coordination.
– Strong communication and people skills.
– Comfortable leading small groups.
– Reliable, punctual and professional.
– Good judgment around safety, pacing and group management.
– Interest in Madrid, its neighbourhoods, local culture, sport, nature and alternative experiences.
– Ability to collaborate under a freelance/professional model, issuing invoices or using a legally valid equivalent arrangement.
Also highly valued
– Experience as a running coach, personal trainer or sports instructor.– Trail running, mountain running or outdoor guiding experience.
– Sports-related education or certifications.
– Experience with international guests, hospitality, tourism, corporate groups or events.
– First aid, safety, group management or outdoor risk-awareness training.
– Interest in helping develop future MAR lines such as trail/nature routes, corporate wellness experiences and running training formats.
– Experience creating content, building community or representing a brand.
Collaboration model
This is not a full-time employee position at this stage. It is a freelance/professional collaboration by route, service or experience.Fees would be agreed depending on the type of experience, number of participants, language, responsibilities and level of involvement.
The goal is to find someone who can bring more than running ability: someone with the right mindset to understand MAR, care for the guest experience, contribute ideas and potentially grow with the project over time.
