We own the full identity verification stack that powers N26's customer onboarding — from KYC verification orchestration and provider integrations (video identification, document verification, biometric screening) to the regulatory compliance checks that keep our banking licence in good standing. Our systems operate at scale across multiple European markets, processing high volumes of verifications while meeting strict AML, KYC, and GDPR requirements.As a Backend Engineer at N26, you will be encouraged to embrace the latest technological updates and given a platform to work on complex, interesting problems on a daily basis.Collaborate closely with your Tech Lead on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion.Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.Have opportunities to mentor junior members in the team by relentlessly guarding code quality through pull requests and helping them when they have questions.Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (note: experience of Kotlin would be a plus)Sound understanding of microservices architectureKnowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably PostgresAppreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWSFull professional proficiency in EnglishStrong bias for action, and getting things doneOngoing appreciation and consideration for securityMotivation to write code which is well-tested and well-documentedGive and receive open, direct and timely feedbackWhat’s in it for you:Employee benefits that range from a competitive personal development budget, work from home budget, discounts to fitness & wellness memberships, language apps and public transportation.As an N26 employee you will have access to a Premium subscription on your personal N26 bank account.
