IMDEA Materials InstituteThe aim of the predoctoral research is to investigate the influence of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processing parameters on the (micro)structure of metallic glasses, as well as on their magnetic and mechanical behavior.
The work will also involve close collaboration with leading groups at TU Berlin (Germany) and INRIM (Italy).
The predoctoral researcher will join regular training activities on transferable skills organised by the Project Management Office at IMDEA in project management, leadership, funding search, grant writing, intellectual property, and science communication to specialised and non-specialised audiences.
Skills of direct interest include expertise on metals processing, microstructure characterization, and mechanical testing. Ideally the candidate should have a basic knowledge of magnetic property testing or finite element modelling. The motivation and ability to excel in science are essential.
The application package must include (1) a cover letter with a statement of motivation, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) transcripts from all years of university studies, and (4) the names and addresses (but not reference letters) of at least 2 academic referees.
Full proficiency in English, oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of Spanish is not required (complimentary classes offered weekly at IMDEA Materials).
Applications are processed upon reception. The position might be closed once ten working days have passed since publication, so we encourage early application.
The working language of the Institute is English. Full command of the English language is required in all positions.
