Prof. Enrique Martínez-Jiménez / Dept. My current research focuses on mathematical literacy with an emphasis on social justice. A central part of my work analyzes how probability education can contribute to preventing risky behaviors, particularly gambling addiction among young people. My research group is interested in designing and evaluating evidence-based educational interventions that promote numerical sense, early algebraic thinking, probabilistic reasoning, and the ability to model and solve problems.
My projects intend to go beyond the state-of-the-art through interdisciplinary proposals that place mathematical learning in authentic social contexts, integrate digital tools, and rely on active methodologies that encourage participation and engagement. The final goal of my research line is to strengthen mathematical literacy as an essential skill for democratic participation and social development, empowering students to interpret information, assess risks, and make responsible decisions in the face of contemporary challenges.
If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please forward your
