MEP Engineer – HVAC / Climate Control Specialist for Data Centers
Position Objective
We are looking for an MEP Engineer specialized in
HVAC, climate control, ventilation and cooling systems
to participate in the design, development, coordination and technical supervision of mechanical installations for
data centers, technical buildings, critical environments and high-demand industrial facilities
.
The selected candidate will be responsible for defining, calculating and coordinating HVAC solutions aimed at ensuring
operational continuity, energy efficiency, redundancy, thermal reliability and regulatory compliance
in mission-critical infrastructures.
Main Mission To design and coordinate MEP HVAC solutions for data center projects, ensuring that the systems meet the project’s technical, energy, regulatory and operational requirements.
The role requires solid technical expertise in mechanical installations, the ability to coordinate with other disciplines — electrical, architecture, civil works, fire protection, BMS, controls and commissioning — and a strong understanding of data center-specific requirements: availability, redundancy, efficiency, safety and maintainability.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and size
HVAC, ventilation and cooling systems
for data centers and industrial environments.
- Perform calculations for thermal loads, airflow, pressure drops, cooling requirements and energy balances.
- Participate in the definition of HVAC solutions: chillers, dry coolers, CRAH, CRAC, free cooling, hydronic systems, technical room climate control and industrial ventilation.
- Prepare and review drawings, technical reports, specifications, bills of quantities and project documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical design with other MEP disciplines: electrical, fire protection, controls, architecture, structures and civil works.
- Analyse solutions focused on energy efficiency, redundancy, scalability and ease of maintenance.
- Participate in technical reviews of basic engineering, detailed engineering and as-built documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, installers and specialized subcontractors.
- Provide technical support during tendering, execution, commissioning and start-up phases.
- Review technical and financial proposals from HVAC suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, client standards and data center best practices.
- Identify technical risks and propose improvement solutions.
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, engineering teams, project management and international teams.
Required Education
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or similar.
- Specialization or proven experience in thermal installations, HVAC, industrial refrigeration or climate control systems.
