About the Role

We are looking for a Senior M&A Underwriter to join our clients growing Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) Insurance team based in Barcelona. This is an excellent opportunity for a corporate lawyer with strong M&A experience who is looking to move into a commercial underwriting role within the transactional risk insurance market.

The position is specifically aimed at lawyers currently based in Portugal, or Portuguese speaking individuals already in Spain, who are interested in relocating to Barcelona and developing a career in transactional risk insurance.

You will work closely with brokers, private equity funds, law firms, and corporate clients across Southern Europe and Latin America, underwriting W&I policies for complex M&A transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Underwrite W&I insurance policies for M&A transactions across Iberia and Southern EuropeReview transaction documentation including Sale & Purchase Agreements (SPAs), disclosure letters, and due diligence reportsAnalyse legal and commercial risks associated with M&A transactionsWork with external advisors, brokers, and clients to structure appropriate insurance solutionsLead discussions with deal teams, private equity sponsors, and corporate buyers/sellersCollaborate with internal underwriting, legal, and claims teams throughout the underwriting processSupport the growth of the LaTam transactional risk platform

Essential requirements

Qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE in corporate/M&A lawExperience working on M&A transactions at a recognised law firmFluent Portuguese (essential)Strong English language skills (spoken and written)Excellent understanding of transaction documentation and due diligence processes

Preferred

Experience working with private equity transactionsExposure to cross-border M&A dealsSpanish language skills (advantageous but not essential)
