Procurement Manager
Velto Renewables (Velto), a subsidiary of La Caisse (Caisse de Dépôt et Placement de Québec), is looking for a Procurement Manager to join its team in Madrid, Spain and work closely with the Head of PMO. Velto owns and operates over 130 solar photovoltaic projects in Spain and France, with a total installed capacity exceeding 607 MW and generating more than 936 GWh of clean energy annually, powering more than 266,000 homes and avoiding over 77,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. Additionally, Velto provides asset‑management services for La Caisse’s 25% investment in the London Array, one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms, producing 2,300GWh annually and preventing 287,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Responsibilities
- Company‑wide procurement: manage all company purchases across operations, maintenance, finance, legal, IT and consulting; ensure departments follow a centralized and controlled procurement process; standardize purchasing practices across the organization.
- Operations & Maintenance support: ensure materials, spare parts, and services are always available to prevent operational downtime; support maintenance teams with timely purchasing aligned with O&M schedules; secure critical supplies to guarantee continuous operation of renewable assets.
- Vendor qualification: identify reliable suppliers; verify vendor quality, certifications, financial stability, and relevant experience; ensure only qualified vendors are used across all departments.
- Vendor management: maintain company‑wide supplier relationships; monitor vendor performance (quality, cost, delivery, service); resolve issues and replace underperforming vendors as needed.
- Purchasing & cost control: compare quotations and negotiate best prices and payment terms; ensure cost efficiency and strict adherence to budget controls; avoid unnecessary spending while maintaining quality and service levels.
- Order & delivery management: issue and manage purchase orders; track deliveries and ensure timelines are met; coordinate with internal teams and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish.
- 5–8 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles with a focus on industrial or energy sectors.
- 2+ years of relevant experience within the renewable energy industry (solar PV, wind, or BESS).
- Desirable: experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Navision) for purchase order management.
- Desirable: experience in vendor qualification and contract negotiation.
