Senior Supplier Development Engineer (m/f/d) (Viana) - Importante empresa

Location: Viana do Castelo, Portugal

Responsibilities

• Monitor, support, and/or manage the implementation of the global supplier development strategy to ensure a flawless launch of new products/programs.
• Follow up on the APQP process as part of the launch of new products.
• Coordinate technical reviews and develop supplier capabilities to meet BorgWarner requirements.
• Develop supplier resources to meet BW requirements.
• Conduct quality training for suppliers.
• Coordinate performance improvement actions for suppliers to achieve established goals.
• Coordinate the resolution of technical problems at the supplier.
• Follow established procedures and work to identify best practices.
• Review work performed according to technical opinion, analyzing the overall situation against predefined goals.
• Participate in the definition of commodity strategy.
• Drive process improvements.
• Comply with environmental, energy efficiency, occupational health and safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Comply with organizational rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice, and schedule.
• Respect safety and cleanliness rules at the workplace.
• Respect and comply with Environmental Management Policy, Energy Efficiency, Occupational Health and Safety rules.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in Quality and/or Process Engineering in the automotive industry or related fields.
• Knowledge in manufacturing problem‑solving (8‑D Methodology) and necessary manufacturing processes with emphasis on Six Sigma methods (DMAIC).
• Knowledge of QS‑/IATF requirements, including APQP and PPAP.
• Knowledge of SPC.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Minitab, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and/or concrete variables.
• Good English language skills (spoken and written).
