Ever since I started chemistry at school, I realized that I would like to work as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. I studied in the Department of Chemistry, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. My direction was Organic Chemistry, the topic of my research work, entitled: Prediction of Physicochemical Properties and Toxicity of Potential Drugs Acting Against Alzheimer's Disease.
In collaboration with my supervisor, the work was published in the scientific pharmaceutical journal “pharmakeftiki”.
Before I started my master's degree, I decided that I wanted to experiment with various chemistry projects. Under the auspices of the Erasmus+ Internship Positions Program, for the academic year 2022-2023, I started my internship in the NanoBic group of the University of Barcelona in the department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. The title of the traineeship program is “Photoactivatable ruthenium(II) complexes for phototherapeutic applications” and I am synthesizing some Ru(II) coordination compounds and investigating their photochemical properties with the objective of potentially using them in phototherapy (anticancer treatment).
