From an early age, I’ve always been deeply interested in computing. It was my dad, introducing me to the computer systems at his workplace in a bank that first sparked this interest. I can always remember the feeling of wanting to know just how computers worked, why they worked and what else they could do.
I remember when my father bought a Spectrum 48K in 1982, when I was 6, and we started to develop a submarine game in Basic. In Santander, where I lived when I was young, there wasn't an IT degree, and I started studying a Geography degree which could have potentially given me many job opportunities. However, when I graduated there wasn’t any work available.
In 1998 I started my secondary studies in IT, in which I achieved a first degree with honors. Later in 2000 I started my professional career in IT in a company that belonged to IBM in Madrid. Working in IT has given me more than 20 years of professional experience, for service companies, consultancies, end customers, in different sectors, public, private, energy, telecommunications, tourism, aeronautics and banking.
My work has always been oriented to the most technical part, but I have also managed work teams, becoming head of development, managing more than 20 people, and I feel very comfortable in a role in which I can communicate with all the stakeholders since I like to know all the points of view of a project. I am a very sporty person, throughout my life, I have practiced sports and the last 15 years I have been doing athletics, running more than 25 marathons around the world. I also like to run ultra-marathons finishing self-sufficiency races like Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert, Fire and Ice in Iceland, and other ultra-races in adverse weather conditions.
For me, living outside the comfort zone is something normal, exactly like my job in IT since you must be constantly learning and adapting so as not to be left behind.
