Sobre mí
I work on English books in eighteenth-century Spain, on Spanish books in eighteenth-century Britain, and on the history English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translation. I want to prove that English-language print was important to eighteenth-century Spain, and that diasporic readers are important to that phenomenon.
With Deanne Williams, I am co-lead researcher of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada-funded project on the shape of early Shakespeare reception in Spain and Portugal as approached via the history of reading, rather than that of criticism or translation. We are using our project to frame the study of diasporic book history.
I have held fellowships at the National Library of Scotland (as a BSECS fellow), Durham University, Yale University, the Univerity of Aberdeen, and the Folger Shakespeare Library.
