Role Overview To support our growth and product evolution, we are strengthening our backend and infrastructure foundations with a DevOps-oriented Backend & API Engineer.

This role sits at the intersection of API design, data architecture, and platform reliability. You will progressively take ownership of core backend services while contributing to performance optimisation, deployment workflows, and overall platform robustness.

Responsibilities

Backend & API Design (Core of the Role)

· Design, develop, and evolve APIs (GraphQL and/or REST)

· Structure and improve schema design and data contracts

· Optimise access to large volumes of data

· Contribute to data modelling and evolution of backend models

· Improve performance and scalability of backend services

· Maintain and progressively take ownership of existing application components

Application Architecture

· Contribute to backend architectural decisions

· Help structure and enforce development best practices

· Improve code maintainability and readability

· Document services and their interfaces

DevOps & Industrialisation

· Participate in application deployments (Docker)

· Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines

· Contribute to environment management (dev, staging, production)

· Implement and enhance observability (metrics, logs, monitoring)

· Contribute to the overall reliability and resilience of the platform

Tech Stack

  • Backend: Node.js / Deno, TypeScript, GraphQL (Hasura or equivalent), REST APIs
  • Data: PostgreSQL, PostGIS (appreciated), Large scale data access
  • Infrastructure & DevOps: Docker / Docker Compose, CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent), Object Storage (S3 or compatible)
  • Observability: Grafana, Prometheus, Loki

Required profile

Essential

  • Significant experience in backend development
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript
  • Solid experience designing REST and/or GraphQL APIs
  • Strong understanding of API design principles and data contracts
  • High sensitivity to performance and scalability challenges
  • Comfortable with Git and collaborative workflows
Highly Valued
  • Strong GraphQL best practices
  • Experience with large-scale data architectures
  • Operational DevOps experience (CI/CD, containerisation, environments)
  • Experience with real-time or high-traffic APIs
Nice to have
  • Geospatial knowledge (PostGIS)
  • Experience with scientific or meteorological data
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures
  • GitHub portfolio appreciated

Location: Auray, Morbihan, Brittany France (Hybrid/Remote)

Job level: Mid-Level / Experienced

Salary : 45-50k€/year
