About Pasqal

PASQAL designs and develops Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) and associated software tools. Our innovative technology enables us to address use cases that are currently beyond the reach of the most powerful supercomputers; these cases can concern industrial application challenges as well as fundamental science needs. In addition to the exceptional computing power they provide, QPUs are highly energy efficient and will contribute to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the HPC industry.

Job Description The internship aims at extending a recently proposed quantum Markov chain algorithm [1]. The algorithm currently utilizes 1D chains with nearest-neighbor connectivity as qubit registers, whereas the successful candidate will explore the possibility of employing 2D registers for faster entanglement spreading.

The position involves both theoretical and applied aspects. On the theory part, the candidate will review the existing literature on thermalization and many-body localization in dimension higher than 1 and get acquainted with the theory of random matrix ensembles that describe these phases. On the applied part, the candidate will implement numerical code to verify the properties of the proposed unitary ensembles on 2D registers and benchmark the convergence speed of the resulting quantum Markov chain.
