Mira Assoum

I am a Master's graduate in Biotechnology from the University of Lille, in France. I have experience in different fields ranging from microbiology, molecular biology, imaging and microsystems & microfluidics. The trainings that I have done during my master along with my one year experience in the medical laboratory field has empoweed with a lot of technical skills and knowledge.

I am fluent in English and Arabic and currently working on developing my French. I am a hard working and passionate person with high aspirations for the future.

I have worked as laboratory technician during the pandemic in 2020 till 2021. I was responsible of storing the samples taken from the patients and arrange them according a certain criteria depending on the most urgent. After arranging the samples, I was responsible of running them for PCR test (Polymerase Chain Reaction) where I worked in an L2 laboratory under strict conditions.

The final step was to put the samples in the Thermal cycler, read the ct-values and analyze the results to the patients.

I have a 4 year experience in teaching where I taught English and Biology to highschool students.

• I have done three trainings during my Masters studies. The first one took place at Unité De Glycobiologie Structurale Et Fonctionnelle (UGSF) at the University of Lille between May and June 2022. During that training, I was responsible of maintaining Roscof worms and assembling a low-cost and user-friendly imaging system called “FlyPi”. I took images and videos using this system and compared them to ones taken by a conventional upright microscope. The images were treated with ImageJ-Fiji using a plugin “TrackWorm” to track the motion of the worms. 
• The second training I did took place at Institut d'électronique de microélectronique et de nanotechnologie “IEMN” where I had to work on Bio-printing machine called BIO-Xtm and my responsibilities were to discover the different features of the machine and try different Bioinks inorder to create a blood vessel. 
• The third training I did was between February 2023 and August 2023 at INRAE/PIHM. I worked on Bacillus subtilis spores, where I was responsible of collecting them and culturing them. The spores are known to be highly adherent to surfaces. The aim of the training was to develop and optimize a microfluidic tool which can help us visualize the spores under the microscope in real-time. Three strains of spores were used in order to idnetify the difference adherence among them. The microfluidic tool was proven to be more sensitive than conventional methods in determining the adherence of the spores.
